What's New at JAI?

Island Waterfront New Construction

JAI has broken ground on a waterfront, Key West-style home on an island north of Sarasota. Working with the young, out-of-state owners, and our team of talented designers and subcontractors, we have created a design for the perfect second home. In this case, it was not practical to remodel or update the existing home, and the decision to tear down created some unique challenges.

Commercial Rest Rooms in Downtown Sarasota

The JAI Commercial Division does commercial buildouts & renovations, and these rest rooms were a real challenge. Located in an executive office complex in downtown Sarasota, we gutted the ancient original 70’s-era rest rooms and transformed them into beautiful, modern, comfortable spaces. We utilized the latest water-saving fixtures and installed automatic faucets. The transformation included bringing the restrooms up to current codes, including compliance with ADA rules and creating safe and user-friendly access for the handicapped. Our team really has outdone themselves with the selections and design!

Green Certified Bayview Heights Cottage

This home was a 900 sqare foot cottage on a large, beautifully wooded lot with a view of Sarasota Bay. The owners decided to raise the house to be above the flood plain, completely gut, remodel, and add onto the existing home instead of tearing it down & building new. They couldn’t be happier with their decision to keep the charm and character of the original home while completely modernizing the electical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. This home features double-glazed impact glass, spray-foam insualtion in the ceiling, walls, AND under the floor. The energy costs are staggeringly low, even in the heat of the summer. The home was certified green by the Florida Green Building Coalition and features florida-friendly landscaping.

River Wilderness Home Update & Remodel

This home belongs to a couple from Michigan, who plan on spending more time in Florida. While the home was in excellent shape, there were some things our customers wanted to update and attend to. We painted the house inside and out, installed a new entry door and arched transom window, refinished the pool deck with new pavers, refinished the countertops, and updated the bathrooms. This early 1990’s home is now updated to reflect the new owners’ taste, and they are very pleased with the transformation.
